What would you do to improve Digg?

Trying to get a story to the frontpage on Digg depends on how well the member is actually performing on Digg, well, that’s what I believe anyway - and how many friends actually digg the story. A member with none or very few friends is highly unlikely to get a story made popular let alone make it to the front page.

Here are a few of my own suggestions to improve Digg.

  1. Instead of listing new submitted stories under “upcoming stories” you could reveal stories randomly thus making it harder for friends to vote for friends.
  2. Improve social parts of Digg like adding messaging service, a social network enabling users to create their own communities or somewhere you can find out what people are saying right now.
  3. Who are the top 20 diggers and where on Digg do my stories rank overall?
  4. Instead of having “Upcoming Stories” what about something like fastest dugg stories? It would be nice to know which story got dugg the most within a few minutes.
  5. Every time I want to digg a friends story, I have to first go and see if any stories have been submitted by them. How about an alert as soon as you log in or check your own profile to let you know.
